Knights of the King!

The Knights of the King has been born out of the needs and desires of Catholic men to experience their masculinity as warrior, mentor, protector, and provider. Men that want to aspire to more than just mediocrity within the Church, the

culture, the family, and themselves. This is a boot camp for men that want to sharpen themselves spiritually, physically, and emotionally. We invite both single and married men, . We encourage a wide spectrum of age groups because each age of our lives brings both strengths and weaknesses . Here both young and older man have much to offer each other.

Youth brings its energy, its visions and its dreams while maturity bring its experience, its stories of success and warnings about failure. And for every man that is struggling with an issue there is usually a man who has battled that struggle before.
We want younger guys to benefit from networking with guys that have a wide variety of life experiences, in the home and in the workplace. Older guys need the energy and the dreams of the younger guys to remind them of this incredible journey called life. Each man comes with his individual uniqueness and difference, that is what makes us strong. The one thing that unifies us is our strong desire for Holiness.

"Where a lone man may be overcome, two together can resist.

Please don't mistake Holy for "Holy Roller" The word Holy means

"complete", "integrated" and "balanced"

Our prayer is to promote "spiritual fruit" rather than "religious nuts!"

Men sometimes ask us if we are part of the liberal or conservative church and we want to say that either definition implies that there are 2 Catholic Churches. We think of ourselves as good Catholic men who avoid either extreme, but who definitely have their allegiance to our Holy Father, the Magistarium, and the great traditions taught by the Church.

The Goal
1) Is to grow in virtue so as to lead each man to a genuine personal conversion and enable him to fulfill God’s Will in his life. To discover his purpose as a man. To think "bigger than himself.

2) To encourage men to reach their full spiritual, emotional, and physical potential so that they may in turn bring that blessing to their families, workplace, and the community. To develop the " warrior" within so that he may battle his own weakness and the injustice around him.

3) To create a team of men that can give support to their local priests and parishes. Priest's are men and also need other men to acknowledge and sharpen their strengths so they might be fearless in a "politically correct" but immoral environment.

4) For the continued growth and edification of the Knights of Columbus. "We neither hate nor fear our enemies" and believe that "Evil happens around us, simply because good men do nothing" We must as John Paul ll said " Hate mediocrity!" and become men of "action"

Renewing Everyman through Accountability, Love, Motivation, Education & Networking

When We Gather we will:

1) Pray

2) Listen to pertinent men's issues

3) Dialogue

4) Sharpen the sword

1) Prayer:

We will pray in various ways. However we encourage the most Holy Rosary as one of the Knights weapons.

•“There is no problem, I tell you, no matter how difficult it is, that we cannot solve by the prayer of the Holy Rosary.” Sister Lucia, seer at Fatima

•Saint Padre Pio called the Holy Rosary his " Weapon"

Pope John Paul ll once raised the rosary at a massive gathering and shouted

" This is THE WEAPON!"

•Often we begin the meeting with the Rosary for the reasons above and because it puts everyone in a prayerful state and it accommodates for any interruptions as a result of late arrivals.

When we come to understand it's power, we embrace it. The picture to the left depicts the Queen placing the sword upon the knight. That's because the Knights of the King have a strong devotion to our Queen. The King has granted her much power! Power to protect and inspire. Mary is not only our Queen but also our Mother and has on so many occasions, consistently asked us to pray the Rosary.

Mary also allows us as Knights to see the dignity and all that is beautiful in a woman. There are also many other forms of prayer we will participate in over the course of our meetings. To develop a community and the tools for spiritual combat within each man is the ultimate goal.

Prayer and the Sacraments are our weapons,
The Church is our guide, while Christ is our commanding officer and King

2)Teaching:
We will be addressing "men's issues" in a variety of ways. These topics are for men and chosen by men, because all too often only a man can fully understand the struggle, the longings, the ache that another man carries. All too often a man may "catch a snooze" in church because the message does not interest "the man". We assure you that these are meant to "wake the warrior", to challenge, inspire, and encourage men on their journey, you are not going to "snooze!". All too often, men leave the incredible richness of our faith because they simply don't know it's treasures. Also, many men leave the faith because some of them have simply never met another man that was excited about his faith.
We want to know God and get excited about Him, because He created men for greatness!

3) Dialogue:
No one is ever going to force another man to speak but we do encourage dialogue among each other. Men by their very nature like to know how things work, what makes them tick. We find that as we speak to one another as it relates to the issue of the day, it allows men to bond, to be creative, and receive support. Often a man is beat down by his job or education, the demands of his fiance, marriage or children, financial worries, lust, greed, or power. It is here we can strengthen each other in the safety of real brothers. Men don't have to carry the weight of the world on their shoulders alone!

4) Sharpening the sword
Sharpening the sword involves personal conversion, and accountability.This is where we make or renew our good intentions to improve ourselves to affect change in our life's quest, our relationships and in our culture. In the corporate world setting a goal is like the "compass", but is only part of the success equation. Action steps are the "Fuel" that makes it happen. These steps are between you and God but we find that when you share your goals with a trusted friend it results in accountability but more important, a source of encouragement.
